Silent Hill Townfall Part 1 overview
Part 1: Arrival brings Simon back to St. Amelia and ends when he solves the scales in the clinic. It covers the harbour, the town square, a nightmare version of the town's hotel, Zoe's house, the clinic, the pharmacy and Jess's house on Farrow Street. Into Indie Games splits it into four chapters: Cold Open, Escape, A Connection and Searching for Zoe.
- Discoveries: 23 clues and documents. Part 1 also has 4 Strange Postcards and 3 phone numbers, but only clues and documents count toward your ending.
- Saving: dial 100 at any payphone.
- Threats: a few monsters roam the streets once you're back in town. Health items are scarce, so track enemies through the CRTV's static and sneak past where you can — every kill counts against the Justice ending.
1. The pier and the payphone
You wake on a wooden dock by the harbour. Follow the pier toward town, climb the ladder up the sea wall, and follow the red light through the fog. Read the notices on the way: the Boat Tours Cancellation Notice in the small building on the pier and the Public Notice on a lamp post both count as Discoveries.
At the town square you pick up the map of the Shorefront District. A payphone starts ringing, and a Local Services flyer nearby lists three numbers. Dial 100 ("Save Yourself") — the same number saves your game at every payphone from now on. A cutscene then pulls Simon into a nightmare version of the town's hotel.
2. Room 204 and the CRTV
Follow the red light strips through the vents and the flooded chamber, climb the long ladder, and cross the catwalk to the green door marked 204.
- Take the CRTV from the table and read the Room Service Card next to it.
- Raise the CRTV and tune it to channel 60. The broadcast and the Room Service Card together give you a date.
- Set the three rings of the wooden calendar lock on the bathroom door to 18 / January / 1996.
- Take the Room 204 Key from the bathroom counter and unlock the room.
- Take the caged passage to the elevator. The CRTV may pick up an enemy on your left; you can avoid it.
In the lobby, grab the Hotel Reception Notice behind the reception desk before you confirm at the front doors. According to allthings.how, the doors are a one-way exit back to the square.
3. Zoe's house
Head west from the square to Zoe's house.
- Kitchen drawer: Flashlight, without batteries.
- Upstairs drawer: AA Batteries. Combine them with the flashlight in your inventory.
- Upstairs bathroom: Organ Transplant Card.
- Crawlspace by the stairs: the Power Card Credit Guide and the power panel. The panel needs a card you don't have yet.
- Go to Peters Newsagent and take the Prepaid Power Card from the cash register.
- Back in the crawlspace, insert the card, press A until the display reads "Card Credit", press B, then flip the main switch. The lights come on.
- Switch on the computer upstairs and refresh the inbox. One email says to use the first three and last three digits of the number on the Organ Transplant Card.
- Open the organ transport box in the kitchen with 956 (left) and 133 (right). Inside is Zoe's Lanyard. Keep it: it opens the clinic and is one of the three items for the final puzzle.
New Game Plus: on a second run, the Bronze coin for the Dog ending is at the Video Star and one of the Strange Books for the Sci-fi ending is under Zoe's bedside table, according to GameRant. See the endings guide.
4. The clinic, pharmacy and Jess's house
The scales in the clinic need three items. You already have Zoe's Lanyard; the other two are in the pharmacy and at Jess's house.
Shorefront Family Clinic
- Use Zoe's Lanyard on the panel to the left of the entrance.
- Enter 2896 on the reception keypad. The code is on a sticky note by Zoe's computer.
- Take the Scalpel from Zoe's room. It cuts through the rusty hatch doors around town.
- Read the notes and emails in the offices; several count as Discoveries.
Pharmacy
- Cut through the rusty hatch at the back with the Scalpel.
- Posters around the pharmacy show four digits, and the CRTV broadcast gives their order. The rusty locker code is 6539.
- Take the Prescription Dosage Error Note from the locker.
Farrow Street
- In the apartment building (Building 16), take the 21 Farrow St. Back Door Key from the upstairs apartment.
- Let yourself into Jess's House at 21 Farrow St. through the back door and find the Broken Stethoscope in the bedroom.
5. The scales: end of Part 1
Go back to Zoe's room at the far end of the clinic corridor and place the items on the scales:
- Left: Broken Stethoscope
- Middle: Prescription Dosage Error Note
- Right: Zoe's Lanyard
If nothing happens when you approach the scales, you're missing one of the three items. Solving the scales ends Part 1 and starts Part 2: Zoe.
Don't miss in Part 1
- The Hotel Reception Notice in the lobby, before you leave the hotel.
- All 23 clues and documents if you're going for the Justice ending. Count them as you go with the ending calculator.
- The Scalpel and the flashlight. You'll need both again later in the game.
