Silent Hill Townfall Part 4 overview

Clara Woods is the biggest area in the game. Simon's goal is three Mechanical Parts that open the Strange Gate on Atlas Way, and each one sits in a locker at the CEG Employee Lockers building.

The whole area runs on barcodes. Every barcode you find in a house goes back to the scanner at CEG Lockers, which gives you that locker's PIN. GameRant's order works well: CEG Lockers first, then 5 South Brae (which gets you the Bolt Cutters), then the other two houses.

  • Chapters: Into Indie Games splits Part 4 into Chapter 9 (Begin Again), Chapter 10 (Missing Parts) and Chapter 11 (Inside CEG HQ).
  • Combat: there's more fighting here than in earlier Parts. Into Indie Games warns about monsters dropping from poles as you walk back into town.
  • Trophies: you get a Flare Gun here. Pinpoint Inaccuracy needs a flare gun headshot from more than 10 m, and Long-Range Masonry a brick to an enemy's head from more than 15 m.
  • Items are missable. According to PowerPyx, you can't return to this section without reloading an earlier save.

1. Back into town

Walk carefully past the bodies in the street; Into Indie Games advises against sprinting. Take the Clara Woods map from the estate sign, and stock up at the store: bullets, healing items and a note.

Raise the CRTV to pick up a message from Richard. According to Into Indie Games, dialling 946 at the phone booth gets you his number; call him, then save.

2. CEG Lockers

The CEG Employee Lockers building is in the north-west.

  1. Read the computer in the back office. The Lost and Found & CEG Employee Locker List gives the Lost and Found code.
  2. Open the Lost and Found locker with 772 for the South Brae House Key.
  3. Pick up the Barcode (CEG Lockers) – Locker 75 from the counter and scan it at the barcode scanner. It gives 184.
  4. Locker 75 holds the Flare Gun and flare cartridges.

There's a telephone to save here, and a plank by the fire exit.

3. 5 South Brae and the floppy disks

  1. Open the gate with the button on the left, fight your way up the stairs and unlock 5 South Brae with the house key.
  2. Take the Disk Case Key from the bedside drawer and use it on the disk case for the Grouped Floppy Disks.
  3. Go to Atlas Computers and take the Fix-A-Disk! software from the container in the left room.
  4. Back at the computer in 5 South Brae: insert Fix-A-Disk! and press Begin, repair Floppy Disk 2 of 3, then insert disks 1, 2 and 3 in turn to unzip them. Print the result and switch on the printer.
  5. The printout shows the number 956. Open the safe with it for the Barcode (South Brae) – Locker 17.
  6. Scan it at CEG Lockers: 575. Locker 17 holds the Bolt Cutters, pistol rounds and the first Mechanical Part.

4. 6 North Brae

Use the Bolt Cutters on the gate to the north. In 6 North Brae, the bedroom safe code comes from the paintings around the house: count the items in each. The code is 736, and the safe holds the Barcode (North Brae) – Locker 204. The Lamenting Poem on the bedroom chair hints at it.

5. 5 Upper Brae: the tape puzzle

The tape player in 5 Upper Brae changes the house between days. There are three tapes, Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow, and three notes: The Code Today, The Code Before and The Code After.

Into Indie Games solves it like this:

  1. Take Tape: Tomorrow out of the player. Find Tape: Today and play it, then read the notes as they appear.
  2. Play the next tape to reach the kitchen, and take the Back Door Key.
  3. Switch back to Tape: Tomorrow and go out the back door; there's a Strange Postcard on the way.
  4. With Tape: Today playing, the room on the right opens. Take the Ammonite Disk.
  5. Play Tape: Yesterday and put the Ammonite Disk in the computer, then play Tape: Today.
  6. Open the box with 129 for the Barcode (Upper Brae) – Locker 94.

6. The three Mechanical Parts

Back at CEG Lockers, scan the last two barcodes:

  • Locker 204: 971, the second Mechanical Part
  • Locker 94: 490, the third Mechanical Part, plus pistol rounds and gauze

Combine the three parts into the Constructed Mechanical Device and fit it to the machine at the Strange Gate on Atlas Way. Opening the gate unlocks the Key to the Castle trophy.

7. CEG HQ and the access card

  1. Take the CEG HQ map from the counter. The Box IDs and Names sheet is on the podium; keep it in mind.
  2. In the Maintenance room, the starting digit and arrow path on the whiteboard spell out the security room code: 4895.
  3. Collect the two torn paper pieces: one in the Maintenance room bin, one in the wastebasket by the filing cabinets in the Security office. Combine them into the Complete Grid of Codes. There's a telephone to save in the Security office.
  4. Find Richard's name on the Box IDs and Names sheet. His is Box 36, on a chair among the rows facing the stage. Read its code from your own grid; it isn't the same in every playthrough.
  5. The Employee File Cover Note inside gives Richard's ID: 00007820518.
  6. Enter the ID at the security desk computer, choose Generate Access Card, print it and take the card from the printer.
  7. Use the card on the elevator reader and ride up to the 10th floor. The cutscene there ends Part 4.

New Game Plus

On a second run, Part 4 holds two New Game Plus items:

  • Silver coin (Dog ending): on the long street covered in bodies, turn right instead of left toward Clara Woods Estate, then right again to a wooden shed. Donate it at the Guide Dog by the Laundry building's fire exit; you need the Bolt Cutters to open the gate in the alley behind the Post Office.
  • Strange Book 2 (Sci-fi ending): Freeze Me / Wake Me, in Stenhouse End of Life Hospice Care in the south-west corner of Atlas Square. Turn left as you enter; it's on the wooden shelf.

See the Dog and Sci-fi endings guide.
